Drugs and Death in Mexico

Our neighbor to the south has never been well-renowned for its ability to peaceably and effectively curb the rising tides of gang violence associated with the trade of illegal drugs. Thousands of gruesome murders remain unsolved every year, and the death and destruction are flooding over its borders. Most recently an ambush on Mexican police resulted in at least 50 deaths of criminals and officers. We can definitely make an argument that this is a supply and demand problem, wherein the United States is demanding a nearly unlimited supply and the Latin American criminals are falling all over each other trying to fill it. This issue also walks hand in hand with illegal immigration. We will not solve these problems individually, but rather need to look at joint solutions to these massive issues.
