Deadly Foods: The Pistachio

A friend was recently telling me about the lowly pistachio, difficult to cultivate, susceptible to blights and fungal infections that can cause dangerous levels of aflatoxins to build up in the delicious nut, resulting in acute hepatic necrosis and cancer, and also capable of spontaneously combusting, when stored in large quantities. This apparently results from a abnormally highly exothermic reactions that take place as the nut matures. Can anyone say, terrorist nut-bomb?
