More Evolution: Pink Iguanas and Stuff

A recent article describing an extant and until recently unclassified species of pink iguana on one of the Galapagos Islands is just one more piece of evidence detailing the intricate, varied, and ultimately endless variation of life on Earth. The fact that this iguana is classified as endangered nearly as soon as it was discovered is cause for worry at the countless hordes of species that are being swept from the planet on a daily basis. Not to mention the potential sources of cures and treatments for human ailments of all kinds the loss of these undiscovered species impoverishes the genetic resilience of the biosphere and impoverishes the legacy of our generation. We will never again see many of these species, and it saddens me to think that I will probably never be able to eat a delicious pink iguana steak again.
