Taxes Are Not The Answer – GOP swings the Big Stick

with 8 comments

Roosevelt, Big Stick, GOPTODAY, as reported by the Associated Press, the Grand Old Party successfully blocked Democrat backed legislation to apply a 25% tax on the windfall profits of US oil companies. Apparently the tax would have been assessed based on what profits the legislature determines to be beyond resonable expectation. If this legislation had passed I would now be telling you that the American dream is over, however this is not the case, thanks to a well executed Republican filibuster.

Folks, listen, because I’m only going to say this once – continue to vote for liberal candidates, including – dare I say it- the iconic, dyed in the wool liberal Barack Obama, and in the not too distant future, the American dream will be dead, and it will be your fault.

  1. If it had pass we also would feel the cost of it at the pumps! Thanks Republicans from a unhappy democrat!

  2. Also a very good point. How is it that the Democratic Party fails to understand this basic, economic concept?
    I’ll tell you-
Of course they understand it, and they want exactly that to happen: increase the price of gasoline. So dumb ol’ voters will become more agitated by the price of gas, continue to blame Republicans, and vote more Democrats into office in the next election.

  5. Forget about gas and ride a bicycle. I have heard from completely unreliable sources that a bicycle gets the equivalent of 3,000 mpg.

  6. Yeah, actually I’ve been meaning to talk to you about that. I think you may have an unhealthy obsession with biking. Maybe time to reign it in a little?

  7. What sort of bicycle uses gasoline and reigns? That’s crazy talk.

  8. [...] The Bruce is interested to see how and whether this affects the next election cycle. Who knows, if people don’t start paying attention to real issues and the associated causes and effects, slavery might not just be the past, but rather our certain future. [...]
